ANXIETY COURSE MAP
WEEK 1
In our first module, we define Anxiety Disorders, and are introduced to the two primary components, cognitive and physiological.
In this module, we learn about the classes of anxiety disorders as defined by the DSM-5 and the factors involved in meeting the threshold criteria for diagnosis.
WEEK 2
Here we learn how anxiety orders in children may present distinctly from anxiety orders in adults.
We describe how anxiety in the classroom often mimics behaviors we associate with disciplinary action, and provide an example scenario of what anxiety may look like for a child in school.
WEEK 3
In this module, Dr. Brie Moore explains the connection between anxiety disorders and other learning differences.
Here we learn how anxiety may manifest as symptoms of a physical ailment even though no physical ailment exists, and why struggles with anxiety in high-achieving students may often go unnoticed.
WEEK 4
Dr. Brie Moore describes how children's distress can provide a window into their values, and the importance of acknowledging these anxieties rather than dismissing them, to help our children reflect and grow.
Congratulations on completing the EmpathED Course on Anxiety!
